Subject: 911 Calls

There are some things we thought you should know while a 911 call is made.

  1. It is answered in The Stonington Police Department

  2. A caller ID computer screen is displayed immediately in front of the person answering the call. The screen includes your name, address and telephone number

  3. The person answering the phone will ask questions that will determine whether to send the police, the Mystic Fire Department and/or The Mystic River Ambulance Service. If the person making the call hangs up before speaking (ie. a child) you can expect a police visit.

There is Auxiliary Data that you can have displayed on your screen. See attached.

Should you wish this information to be available to responders please submit it to The Stonington Police Department.

We strongly recommend that your dog/s have a current license. They are available without penalty every year, June 1-30 at The Stonington Town Clerk's Office.

If your licensed dog gets loose, gets injured, and a 911 call is received you can be notified immediately. Who better to direct the actions of rescue personnel than you, the owner?

It's got to be worth the $8.00 per year!

Your suggestions and comments are always welcome.

Sincerely
